Breed history:
It is the descendant of the "Hawk dog" from the Middle Ages and the result of the crossbreed between Pointers, Wachtelhunds and Stoberhunds. It was developed mainly in the region Munster from Germany, where comes the name. Through supervised selections were the current specimens were obtained which are very apreciated in Germany and Switzerland.
Description:
It is a medium to big sized dog, brawny, tough, with a square look and an elegant image. The head is oblong, the skull not too big the and rounded, the snout has the proper length with a big and black nose. The eyes are medium sized the dark. The ears are broad, caught up, left besides head. The tail is long and carried floppy. The fur has a hair of medium length, straight and a little wavy on ears, tail and feet. It has the white colour with big patches and black little spots.
Personality:
It is an intelligent, brave, watchful, friendly dog, eager to work, pretty noisy and sometimes dominant. It is submissive and devoted to the master and his family, loving and patient with the children, friendly with everybody including other dogs and other animals.
Grooming:
The fur of this dog must be brushed regulary for not getting tangled and to keep its pleasant look.
Living conditions:
It is a dog with a pretty high level of activity which likes to make much exercise, to be busy. It is recommended to the active persons, sportive type, and who have time to take it out to long walks, to swimming, to play fetch, and if is is possible to go hunting. It can be kept in a flat, but it feels better in a fenced yard and let free.
Training:
The training must done by a firm person, with experience because this dog has a character a little dominant. But with a consistent, firm training but without being rough or severe the wanted results can be obtained.
Usefulness:
It can be used for any kind of hunt on any type of field and as a lovely companion.
