Australia is the 6th largest country in the world after Russia, Canada, China, USA and Brazil. It is estimated to be 7.692.024 square kilometres and has a population of over 20 million people. Its neighbouring countries include Indonesia, East Timor and Papua New Guinea to the North, New Zeeland to the South-East, Solomon Islands, Vanuatu and New Caledonia to the North-East.
Australia is an incredible place and is the home of many beautiful and strange animal like the platypus, the wombat, the koala the dingo and of course the kangaroo the first thing that pops in your mind when you think of Australia.
There are five breeds that originate from Australia and all I can say is that these breeds are amazing. For example the Australian Cattle Dog is a beautiful breed, a hardworking dog and a great herder. It is rumoured that he was developed by crossing the Dingo with the blue-grey Collies and with the Dalmatian. Another incredible breed is the Australian Terrier this little guy shows no fear when it comes to snakes and not just any snake…poisonous ones, simply amazing. Maybe the number of breeds developed in Australia isn’t very big, but don’t forget that it isn’t about the quantity it’s about the quality.
